TJM RAMPS UP R&D
Aussie 4x4 accessories specialist TJM has ended local production but at the same time increased its capacit for product development by expanding engineering and R&D departents by expanding its Queensland factory.
TJM intents to develop more products for an expanded range of 4X4 and SUV equipmant, according to national sales manager Don Shewing.
the company was looking at establishing a large presence in the SUV market with everything from nudge bars to suspension lifts and dual battery systems for soft roaders . It was also about to look at product for the updated 70 Series.
The small range of products produced in Queensland will now be manutactured overseas, alongside the rest of TJM's range.
"All designs will be Australian," Shewring said, and some finishing, production and packages operations will continue to be done in Queensland.
With development and testing done in Australia , where conditions are tougher then almost anywhere in the world, TJM would continue to have good products, and "all we have to do is keep an eye on the quality," Shewring said.
"Our plan is to own a factory in China once we get through the downturn."
TJM supplies a host of aftermarket 4X4 accessories for local buyers, and has exported to 40 contries and produced original equipment (OEM) products for some of the world's major 4X4 manufactures.
